In partnership with The Gavins Foundation we are leasing this amazing building whilst we carry out major renovations. This large and spacious building in the heart of Dronfield, will be transformed it into a vibrant and contemporary community space whilst still retaining its beautiful old features, character and charm. Once renovations are finished, Life Dronfield will purchase the halls back from The Gavins Foundation.
Planning permission has been granted and met by us replacing the rear roof. We know we have ample space, (including a new mezzanine area) to provide different areas for different groups. There will be a large play area for little ones, quiet areas for reading or working on the internet and an open café area serving nutritious and affordable food and snacks. We will have space to provide extra facilities for those with additional needs so all will feel welcome.
In January 2023 we began the long process of rennovating the building by removing and replacing the roof at the rear of the property. This has meant the building is now water tight.

Restoring a listed building, responsibly
Caring for a building that has stood for centuries means balancing its heritage with the needs of a modern community space. Working within its Grade II listing, our plans include improving the building’s energy efficiency — such as insulation, heating and lighting — as the phased renovation allows, reducing running costs and carbon footprint while protecting its historic character. Renovation began in 2023 with replacement of the rear roof, and continues as funding is secured.

The restored building is designed to support itself. Alongside our community programmes, the café, co-working space and hireable rooms will generate income that keeps Life Dronfield viable for the long term — so the investment made today keeps serving Dronfield for decades to come.
