Barry Jex

I have lived in Dronfield since 1972 and brought my family up here. When my teenage children went out with their friends they “hung around” the park or the local shopping precinct so it is great to be involved with the Life team in trying to create something better for the current generation of youngsters by joining the Life grants team. After twenty-two years as a headteacher in Sheffield when I retired I became a non-executive director and trustee of the charity FareShare South Yorkshire, which supports homeless and needy people with surplus foods from retailers. I have also been a public governor at the local hospital and also for Derbyshire Community Health Services where I was able to represent patients views to the management teams. I have been my church’s representative on the Dronfield Christian Aid committee since 1984. I am an active member of St. Andrew’s Community Church in Dronfield Woodhouse and love the fact that it is an ecumenical church. I also enjoy working with the churches that together make up Churches Together.
